One of the largest casinos in North America, Foxwoods Resort Casino, is offering guests 55 and up exclusive access to one of its five gaming floors from Friday, November 6.
Safe, sanitized and socially distanced, Rainmaker Casino at the Connecticut hotel and casino complex will be open exclusively to patrons 55 and older from 10am to midnight every weekend throughout the entire month of November. According to Foxwoods’ official press release, it is the “first and only” casino in the country to offer a 55-and-older experience.
Interim Chief Executive Officer & Senior Vice President of Resort Operations for Foxwoods, Jason Guyot, said…
“As part of our commitment to providing an unmatched experience for our guests, we are thrilled to introduce this new offering for guests ages 55 and older.
“The safety of our loyal patrons has been our number one priority since reopening on June 1, and we are excited to offer them this exclusive experience where they can relax and play in a safe, frequently sanitized environment.”
Guests will be able to enjoy a variety of entertainment specials, including:
- A live DJ spinning 80s favorites every Friday and Saturday from 8pm to midnight at Atrium Bar & Lounge (located on the Casino Level next to Rainmaker Square).
- Complimentary cocktails to those actively gaming, including special Happy Hour drinks.
- Guests can enter to win exclusive radio giveaways every Friday and Saturday from noon to 2pm and again from 6pm to 8pm. The 80s-themed prize packages include such items as Rubik’s cubes, fanny packs and leg warmers, along with an overnight stay at the mega-resort.
- Foxwoods Rewards Members who play with their Rewards Card will receive special Fox Perx rewards, including free slot play.
Reopening and safety protocols:
After initially reopening its doors to the public on June 1, 2020, Foxwoods reopened Rainmaker Casino on July 3, allowing for an additional 400 slot machines and ensuring sufficient space for guests and team members to maintain appropriate social distancing during peak times. Since then, the property has maintained a “positive safety track record” thanks to the efforts of both guests and team members “respecting health protocols and maintaining social distancing.”
According to the Connecticut casino…
“As part of the resort’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe environment, Foxwoods implemented new safety protocols and operating procedures in partnership with medical experts. All protocols, including those set in place for reopening entertainment venues, will continue to be reevaluated and enhanced as necessary.”
Sept. slot revenue:
In addition to reopening its largest indoor entertainment venue, the Grand Theater, resuming shows at 25 percent capacity and its return to hosting live performances beginning on October 16, last month Foxwoods also reported slot revenue of $27.6 million for the month of September 2020.
The revenue resulted in a $6.9 million direct payment to the State of Connecticut in accordance with the federally recognized Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation’s slot revenue contribution agreement, which since 1993, has reportedly seen the Nation deposit more than $4 billion of Foxwoods’ slot revenue directly into the southern New England state’s budget fund.
