The 2020 WSOP Online Series continues at GGPoker, with several events still on the schedule. Just this week, the $25,000 NLH Poker Players Championship finished up with a whopping 407 entries. In the end, it was Christian Rudulph that earned the victory, taking home just over $1.8 million in prize money and his very first gold bracelet.
Getting Down to the Win
The final table of the tournament was named on August 23 but play would not start until the 29th. The chip leader was Jason Koon and it looked like he was set up to earn the win. Shankar Pillai, a two-time WSOP bracelet winner, was second in chips, also looking good to win. Rudolph found himself 3rd in chips.
The first player to exit the event was Aliaksei Boika, who was out after taking on Pillai. The chip lead would shift soon after as Christopher Hunichen double up after taking on Koon. The next to be eliminated from the online poker event was Paulius Plausinaitis who was followed closely by Jason Koon. The field would continue to whittle down until there was only Christopher Hunichen and Christian Rudolph remaining.
Heads Up Round
When this one on one round began, Rudolph held the chip lead with 21.2 million while Hunichen had 10.5 million. Rudolph held an early lead but Hunichen would make a comeback at some point. However, it would not be enough.
Eventually, Rudolph would gain the final chip lead and the last hand would go down. Hunichen was all-in with K-Q off-suite and was called by Rudolph with Q-10 off-suit. The board fell 10-9-6-3-7 which gave Rudolph a pair of tens and the win.
